A general alarm fire was fought at the Greenhalgh Mill Complex in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The two block mill complex is located at Cottage Street and Kenyon Ave, directly opposite the quarters of Engine 4, Ladder 2 and Rescue 2.

The first calls came in shortly before 1500 hours and a second alarm was struck on arrival. Within minutes, the entire mill became fully involved and with 20-30 mile per hour sustained winds and gusts of up to 40 mph, the fire quickly spread to nearby homes.

Mutual aid from nearly every city in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts was requested. Pawtucket firefighters were forced to abandon their efforts on the mill and attempt to save nearby homes.

Mutual aid companies that weren't operating on the original fire building were sent on "brand patrols" and several came across well involved homes. At least 10 blocks were evacuated as a result of the fire and electricity and gas were cut to the surrounding area.

The fire initially spread to 5 homes but at this hour, at least 13 homes are reported to have been damaged.

Several firefighters and at least 5 civilians have been seen at local hospitals, none of the injuries are reported to be serious.
