Structure Fire in Frontenac, Kansas

Around 4:30 pm on Friday, November 18, 2005, Frontenac, Kansas Fire-Rescue was called to a report of a working structure fire in the 500 block of North Cayuga.

Around 4:30 pm on Friday, November 18, 2005, Frontenac, Kansas Fire-Rescue was called to a report of a working structure fire in the 500 block of North Cayuga.

The first arriving units found a single story home with heavy fire showing from an attached garage and porch, and smoke showing from the homes attic.

Firefighters learned that a passerby alerted the homes occupants to the fire and helped them evacuate prior to the fire departmentss arrival. Fire crews mounted both exterior and interior attacks, bring the fire under control in about two hours.

Frontenac received mutual aid on the call from neighboring Baker Township Fire Department.

It is believed that the fire started outside of the home, in the area of a storage shed, but was spread into the home by high winds.

No injuries were reported.
