NY Firefighters Respond To Acid Spill

At approx 1245 hours the Silver Lake Fire District was alerted for a possible Hazardous situation in a warehouse on Ballard Rd in the Town of Wallkill.

At approx 1245 hours the Silver Lake Fire District was alerted for a possible Hazardous situation in a warehouse on Ballard Rd in the Town of Wallkill.

Silver Lake command arrived on scene and was advised by warehouse personnel that a container of hydrochloric acid had been knocked over and spilled approx 100 gallons of product and container may still be leaking.

Command requested a full Orange County Hazmat Team response and a FAST Team from Goshen.

Upon it's arrival Hazmat Team members led by Deputy Coordinator Michael Pangia suited up and made entry into the affected area and contained & nuetralized the spill which was the cleaned up by a private contractor.
