I-495 Motor Vehicle Accident With Entrapment in Wilmington, Delaware

At 11:31 am, Wilmington Fire Department Units were dispatched at to a a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on I-495 northbound on the Christina River Bridge.

Wilmington, Delaware - November 10 2005 -- At 11:31 am, Wilmington Fire Department Units were dispatched at to a a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on I-495 northbound on the Christina River Bridge.

The first arriving Wilmington Fire Department units were Engine 2, Engine 3, Rescue 1, and Battalion Chief Donohue.

It was a two-vehicle accident with entrapment involving a small pick-up truck and a tractor-trailer. The pick-up truck was trapped under the tractor-trailer.

Medic 1 (New Castle County Paramedics), ALS supervisors and Trooper 4 were also dispatched to the scene.

Trooper 4 (DSP helicopter) transported the driver (sole occupant) of the pick-up truck to the Christiana Hospital.

The accident closed both northbound lanes of I-495.

The accident is under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
