Maybrook, NY Firefighters Extricate 1 at Multi Vehicle MVA on I-84

At approximately 4 PM on Monday, October 20th, Maybrook and Mechanicstown firefighters were alerted for an MVA at mile marker 26.5 on I-84.

At approximately 4 PM on Monday, October 20th, Maybrook and Mechanicstown firefighters were alerted for an MVA at mile marker 26.5 on I-84.

Upon his arrival, Maybrook Chief Charles Woznick reported a second accident at mile marker 26.0 east bound. Command reported entrapment and serious injuries and requested a medivac launch. Units were also directed to check on the first MVA.

Firefighters began a difficult extrication of the driver of a flatbed truck, who was rear ended by a tractor trailer truck. Medical personnel began treatment of numerous injured.

Assisting Maybrook and Mechanicstown were units from Coldenham Fire Department, Mobile Life Support Services, Stat Flight and Life Guard Medivac helicopters as well as the NYS Thruway Authority and NY State Police.
