Firefighters from Elkhorn, Waterloo, Bennington, Irvington, and LaVista participated in a live fire training on October 4th.
The custom built home was being demolished to make way for a housing development in the area. Firefighters spent the day practicing methods of firefighting including attacking basement fires, ventilation, search and rescue, and pump operations.
This is the only way that Elkhorn firefighters can get "hands on" training since the department does not have access to a fire training facility.
