At 9:30 pm 10/03/03, the Lillian VFD was dispatched to a fully involved structure fire on Rainfall Road, SW of their city. Mutual aid was immediately requested from Alvarado FD and Venus VFD.
The Johnson County Sheriff, Bob Alford, was on the scene prior to the arrival of the fire department and was using a water hose to keep the grass fire from spreading
The structure was a 10 x 20 shop building behind a doublewide mobile home with the wind blowing toward the mobile home.
The Lillian VFD responded with 2 engines and one tanker. Alvarado FD responded with one engine and one tanker. Venus VFD had one engine on scene.
Mop-up and fire investigation was completed in 3 hours.
