Firefighters from Wallace District Fire Department Station #2 in Elkhorn Manitoba Canada work to free two passengers of a pick up truck that collided head on with a semi unit on the trans canada highway near Elkhorn.

The driver of the truck died of his injuries a short time after being extricated.

The passenger in the truck received only minor injuries and the semi driver was not injured.

The collision occured on a stretch of highway that is in the process of being twinned and is also on a curve that has been the scene of other motor vehicle collisions.

The firefighters took about 30 minutes to free the passengers of the truck.
