MAYWOOD IL, Sept. 29, 2005-- Maywood firefighters fought this 2- alarm blaze in a large 2 1/2 story home with assistance from 6 other suburbs from MABAS Division's 20 & 11.
Maywood firefighters arrived to find the rear enclosed porch fully involved.
As handlines where stretched a Box alarm was pulled.
Companies began a well coordinated interior & exterior attack to start the initial attack, but the fire had already spread into the 1st and 2nd floors and was traveling throughout the attic. Because of this, a 2nd alarm was pulled.
Crews were able to knockdown the fire within an hour, using 6 handlines. Once knocked down, an extensive overhaul followed.
There where no injuries and the cause is under investigation.
