At approximately 12:30 PM on September 3, 2003, the Broomall Fire Company, Marple Township Ambulance and medic were dispatched the 700 block of Sproul Road for a reported oil tanker overturned.

Police confirmed the overturned tanker and told the incoming emergency personnel that a single car was crushed in the rollover with possible entrapment.

The four victims (two from car, two from tanker) had self-extricated themselves prior to fire company arrival and were transported via Marple and Springfield Ambulances.

The tanker was leaking oil and the BFC took steps to prevent the oil from reaching any nearby streams or sewers while we waited for the arrival of the county Hazardous Materials team, which would transfer the oil into another waiting tanker.

The Broomall Fire Company was finally released a little after 17:00.
