Springfield Mass. firefighters responded thier Heavy Rescue along with Engine 9 and Ladder 9 for a report of a motor vehicle accident in front of 112 Merrimac Avenue.

Springfield Mass. firefighters responded thier Heavy Rescue along with Engine 9 and Ladder 9 for a report of a motor vehicle accident in front of 112 Merrimac Avenue.

Upon arrival fire crews discovered a Mustang GT had crashed into the home at 112 Merrimac Ave. causing over $30,000 in damage.

The damage was so extencive that the structure was deemed uninhabitable by Code Enforcement.

The Rescue Squad had to stabilize the vehicle with cribbing before any extrication efforts could begin.

The unconscios passenger was extricated first, then the driver.

The rescue team had to use all the equiptment at thier disposal including jaws, cutters, and rams.

The owner of the property said he was barbecuing on the back porch when he heard a "big bang that sounded like a bomb".
