On Saturday, August 30, 2003, units from Deptford Twp., Bellmawr, Bellmawr Park, Blackwood, Blenheim, and Chews Landing fire departments responded to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on State Highway 42.

Initial reports indicated that it was a multiple vehicle accident with 4 ejection's and multiple people trapped. First arriving units from Deptford reported a two car head on accident involving a 10 passenger van and a full size Blazer, with both drivers of the vehicles heavily entrapped and multiple "walking wounded."

The extrication required the removal of the roof of the passenger van to gain access to the driver and the removal of the drivers door and a dash push to disentangle the drivers feet. The Blazers rear roof was removed to extricate the driver and both patients were air lifted to trauma centers.
