New York Firefighters Extricate Two on Interstate 84

Shortly after 0700 Hours on Monday August 25th, the Coldenham & Maybrook Fire Departments were dispatched for a Rollover MVA with Entrapment.

Shortly after 0700 Hours on Monday August 25th, the Coldenham & Maybrook Fire Departments were dispatched to Interstate 84 east bound at mile marker 31.7 in the median for a Rollover MVA with Entrapment.

Upon arrival Coldenham Command (A/C Ferguson) reported a late model sport utility vehicle had gone down a 35 foot embankment and then rolled over several times coming to rest in an upright position with 2 front seat occupants pinned.

Firefighters and rescue personnel extricated one front seat in about 20 minutes then worked at the difficult extrication of the driver. After peeling the roof back and popping the door the driver was extricated approx 25 minutes later. Assisting Coldenham & Maybrook on scene were 2 ALS Units from Mobile Life Support Services and the New York State Police.

The cause of the accident is under Investigation by the NY State Police. The driver and passenger were taken with non-life threatening injuries to a local hospital.
