Erie firefighters were called to 307 E 7th St around 13:30 hrs on Friday August 15. On arrival they found flames shooting from the room and heavy smoke that was visible from all over the city.

The house sustained heavy damage to the roof, attic and portions of the second floor. First arriving units battled heavy fire conditions that threatened several exposures.

Erie Fire Department units on the scene were Engines 3, 6, 8, and Tower 2, Deputy Chief 324, and F.I. 4. Chief 320 and Deputy Chief 325 were on scene in support operation capacities assisting the Deputy Chief.

EMS units A45 and S20 were on scene and with the use of an Erie metropolitan Transit Authority air conditioned bus. Rehab was established with a place to get firefighters out of the elements. High temperatures and high humidity added just another concern for officials.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
