August 18, 2005 -- Yakima City and County Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire with explosions at 3pm on Thursday.

First units on scene reported the large home was 50% in the red.

Crews had difficulty controlling the blaze due to persistent flare-ups from concrete filled foam forms which were used in construction.

The origin was determined to be near the front entry of the two week old home, but the cause is still being investigated.

Yakima Fire Department's accelerant detection canine, Wesley, assisted in the investigation shortly after the blaze was brought under control late in the afternoon.

Two young girls at home when the fire broke out were evacuated safely.
