Massachusetts Firefighters Battle House Fire

On August 14,2003 at 2139 Gardner Massachusetts Fire Dept responded to a reported brush fire. Police arrived on scene with a working house fire.

On August 14,2003 at 2139 Gardner Massachusetts Fire Dept responded to a reported brush fire off Route 140 near the prison. Car 2, Engine 1, and Truck 10 responded. Police reported a working structure fire upon arrival

Box 3257 was transmitted for 37 Chapel St Ext. Upon arrival Car 2 found a well-involved occupied single family dwelling. No one was home at the time of the fire. A second alarm was sounded; immediately followed by a third alarm.

On the scene from Gardner were 3 Engines, the Tower, and Heavy Rescue. There were no hydrants so a mutual aid tanker shuttle was put in operation by Westminster, Ashburnham, Hubbardston, Templeton, and Winchendon.

Engines from Fitchburg and Leominster performed cover duty.

There were no reported injuries and the fire is under investigation.
