Man Saved from Camden, New Jersey Structural Collapse

Shortly before 10am on September 12, 2005, reports were coming in for a building collapse with entrapment on the 700 block Berkley Street in South Camden.

Shortly before 10am on September 12, 2005, reports were coming in for a building collapse with entrapment on the 700 block Berkley Street in South Camden.

Squad Company 7 (Captain Everett ), Ladder Compant 1 ( Captain Merklein ), Rescue 1( Captain Sandrock ), and Battalion 1( Matyjasik ) were dispatched.

First in company reported they had the front porches of 4 dwelling, and part of the side roof wall collapsed onto the sidewalks.

One male was trapped under the front porch roof, but was freed by a neighbor and was being transported to Cooper Hospital by Camden EMS.

Firefighters searched the dwelling and debris but no other victims were found.

Public Service Gas & Electric were called to the scene to turn off the Gas & Electric to the homes.
