Austin, Texas Firefighters Battle Three Alarm Fire at Microbrewery Restaurant

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2005 approximately 75 Austin firefighters responded to a three alarm fire at The Bitter End microbrewery on 311 Colorado Street.

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2005 approximately 75 Austin firefighters responded to a three alarm fire at The Bitter End microbrewery on 311 Colorado Street.

Engine 4 arrived to find a fire in the kitchen of the 6,000 square foot restaurant and brewery.

Firefighters attacked the fire, but it had spread into the ceiling.

Crews were hampered by four different ceiling levels in the renovated 130 year old building.

Crews were pulled out of the building after a partial roof collapse.

Aerial streams and hoselines from the roofs of adjacent building were used to bring the fire under control.

The fire was contained to the kitchen area.

Damage was estimated to be $250,000 dollars.
