Two Alarm Pennsylvania House Fire

On July 15th at approximately 5:30 a.m. Company 53 was dispatched to Hedgerow Dr for a dwelling fire.

On July 15th at approximately 5:30 a.m. Company 53 was dispatched to Hedgerow Dr for a dwelling fire. 53-9A (Asst. Chief) went on location reporting fire showing from sides A through D. All occupants of the house were accounted for by the police.

Tele-Squirt 53 quickly put a 2-inch line in service through the front door of the structure while Snorkel 53 positioned itself at the front of the dwelling. A second alarm was called for which brought in Company 41(Newton Square), Company 58(Bon Air), and Company 14(Swarthmore) for the rapid intervention team.

As the other companies arrived more lines were stretched from 53-3 and Tele-Squirt 53 while Snorkel 53 setup a flying standpipe to the second floor. Fire quickly spread throughout the dwelling leaving no room untouched. At around 7:00 a.m. the fire was placed under control and units remained on the scene until 10:00 a.m.

There were two firefighters injured during the fire, one was released at the scene and another transported; both injuries were due to heat exhaustion.

The fire is under investigation at this time. The following units were operating at the scene: Tele-Squirt 53, Snorkel 53, Engine 53-3, Rescue 53, Engine 41-1, Engine 41-3, Ladder 41, Rescue 58, and Engine 14-1.
