2-Alarm Fire in Camden, New Jersey

Just after 2pm, on August 20, 2005, Camden, New Jersey Firefighters were dispatched to the 1200 block of Mt Ephraim Avenue, in the South Camden section of the city. First in units reported they had a 2- story dwelling with heavy fire showing from the second floor.

Just after 2pm, on August 20, 2005, Camden, New Jersey Firefighters were dispatched to the 1200 block of Mt Ephraim Avenue, in the South Camden section of the city.

First in units reported they had a 2- story dwelling with heavy fire showing from the second floor. Battalion Chief 1, Paul Matyjasik requested a second alarm. Engine Company 8 was first in, and made a quick attack with two water lines as Rescue 1 and Ladder 3 made a search of the dwelling.

Car 3, Deputy Chief David Yates, reported to fire radio that companies were making good progess and the search was negative. He also stated they would probably hold.

The fire was placed under control in 20 minutes.

Firefighters were hampered with the hot fire, plus the temperature was in the high 90's.

Camden EMS Units supplied firefighters with wet cold towels and water.

There were no injuries.
