Pennsylvania Firefighters Battle House Blaze

This fire was in South Philipsburg Borough last Wednesday, July 2, 2003, and was electrical in nature. The garage was totally destroyed and the house has significant damage. Nine fire companies from Clearfield and Centre counties fought the blaze for nearly five hours in heat and humidity in the low 90's. There were no injuries, but Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services provided a rehabilitation station to keep an eye on the 50 plus firefighters.

Hope and Reliance Fire Companies of Philipsburg were assisted by Columbia Fire Co. of Osceola Mills, Chester Hill Hose Co., Morris Township Fire Co., Houtzdale Fire Co., Mountaintop Fire Co. of Sandy Ridge, Bigler-Jackson-Woodland Fire Co. and Port Matilda Fire Co. There were also a number of stand-by companies.

The Eyerly Family of four is staying with relatives. There were three ATV's in the garage, a riding mower and a mother and three kittens, which did not get out. The family car also had damage.
