VERNON,CT -- On Park Street, in the Rockville section of Vernon, a vacant factory last housing Polymir Film, kept firefighters busy thru the night.

A very intense electrical storm had just passed through town, knocking down trees and wires nearby when heavy smoke was seen in the downtown area.

A second alarm assignment was requested by Chief Robert Kelley on arrival, followed shortly later by a request for mutual aid Departments from Tolland & Ellington to the scene. Manchester 8th District & Bolton were assigned to cover the stations.

An explosion blew out side "B" wall, backing companies up to protect the exposures and surround and drown the large masonary building.
