Saturday morning at 4:36 am, The Sittard-Geleen Fire Department, Sittard Station, was alerted for a fire in a gym used by many sport clubs and schools.

A working fire was struck at arrival since flames were consuming the complete structure where the locker rooms, administration, and cantine were located. There were also flames shooting out of the roof.

Two Engines, One Tower, One Rescue, and One Battallion Chief were on the scene for 5 hours to extinguish the fire which was also concealed between the multiple ceilings, which made it difficult to hit all the hotspots.

In total there were 15 firefighters on the scene.
