On Memorial Day, local fire departments were dispatched to a reported garage fire in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.

On Memorial Day, Monday May 26th, the Cumberland County 911 center dispatched local fire departments to a reported garage fire to the rear of 29-1/2 North Earl Street, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.

Dwelling assignment box 52-01 was dispatched at 1100 hrs. The heavy black smoke could be seen all over Shippensburg and for a few miles away. The small wooden frame garage had heavy fire coming from both sides one and two upon arrival of local units. Since the garage is located in an alley, it made it very tough to access with an engine. Handlines were pulled from both Engines 1-54 and 1-52 to attack the fire. Supply lines of 5" hose were laid from two different hydrants. The fire was knocked down very quickly by the volunteer firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no dollar estimate of damage is available.

Units on the scene under the direction of Chief 4 and Chief 52 were CO 54 Eng. 1-54,Sq 54,Eng. 2-54,CO 52 Engs. 1-52 and 2-52,CO 53 Trk 53,Eng. 53,Air 53 and Co 53A Amb. 1-53.
