Walden, NY Firefighters Battle Multiple Alarm Barn Fire

At approx 22:50 Hours on May 26th the Walden Fire Department was alerted for a barn Fire at 63 Mills Rd in the Town of Montgomery.

At approx 22:50 Hours on May 26th the Walden Fire Department was alerted for a barn Fire at 63 Mills Rd in the Town of Montgomery.

A short time later while enroute Chief Michael T Pangia was advised Police were on the scene with a barn fully involved. With the fire in a "no hydrant" area, District Chief Pangia transmitted a 2nd Alarm for tankers. A portable pond was setup at the driveway to the barn.

Assisting Walden at the scene were units from Wallkill & Walker Valley (Ulster Co), Coldenham, Montgomery, Maybrook and Cronomer Valley, the Town of Montgomery Volunteer Amb Corps were on standby at the scene as well. Pine Bush, Bullville, Campbell Hall were a few of the Co's on standby.

The barn was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit.
