Wallkill, New York Tractor Trailer Rollover Results in Double Extrication

At around 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 17th, Mechanicstown and Maybrook firefighters were alerted for a tractor trailer rollover with entrapment on I-84 Eastbound at the exit 4E on ramp.

WALLKILL, NY - At around 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 17th, Mechanicstown and Maybrook firefighters were alerted for a tractor trailer rollover with entrapment on I-84 Eastbound at the exit 4E on ramp.

Mechanicstown command (2nd Asst Chief Rich Klempa) arrived on scene and reported a tractor trailer carrying a load of milk had overturned and landed on a car.

Command reported both the passenger of the car and the driver of the truck were heavily pinned in their vehicles.

While Mechanicstown Firefighters worked with their extrication equipment to free the driver of the truck Maybrook Firefighters worked on extricating the passenger of the car, both vehicles required removal of the roof to reach trapped occupants.

After an approximate 25-minute extrication, both were freed.

Town of Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance, Mobile Life Support Services, NYS Police and NYS Thruway Authority assisted Mechanicstown & Maybrook on scene.
