Tree Rescue as a Result of Hurricane Dennis in Santa Rosa County, Florida

Midway Fire District's Special Operations Team responded to a request from East Milton Fire Department.

East Milton Fire Department was on the scene of a man pinned in a tree. He was attempting to remove a limb that was in a dangerous position due to Hurricane Dennis.

The victim was approximately 30 feet in the air pinned under about a tree limb 10" in diameter.

The tree limb was lying over the victim's pelvic area, thereby disabling him and causing him extreme pain.

A Firefighter /Paramedic from the Midway Team was able to access the victim and start an IV.

The Special Operations team secured the victim to the tree, and then used an aerial ladder truck to lift the limb away from the victim. The victim was then lowered by a harness to the ground. He was transported by Baptist Hospital Life Flight.

Crews from Pace Fire Department and Midway Fire District assisted East Milton. All personnel worked rapidly to rescue the victim.

It was a genuine team effort that resulted in the safe and successful rescue of this victim.
