PA Firefighters Respond To Fatal School Bus Vs. SUV Accident

At about 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, the McKean Fire Department, along with Medic 2 from Central Erie County Paramedics, responded to fatal crash involving a Toyota Rav 4 and a school bus.

McKEAN, PA (Erie County) -- At about 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, the McKean Fire Department, along with Medic 2 from Central Erie County Paramedics, responded to fatal crash involving a Toyota Rav 4 and a school bus.

The driver of the Rav 4 and his 19-year-old son were trapped under the school bus on Route 99, about 10 miles south of Erie.

The SUV lost control for an unknown reason and hit the back of the bus. The impact forced the front of the SUV under the bus, crushing it.

The driver died on impact; the passenger was found unresponsive, but alive.

Additional medics and a helicopter were requested at the scene, as well as a rescue company and ambulance from Edinboro Fire Department.

The teen later died at Hamot Medical Center
