Maryland Firefighters Assist in Horse Rescue

On Wednesday, May 14, 2003, McCoole Fire & Rescue Department in Allegany County, Maryland responded to a call of a horse that had fallen partway through a railroad bridge.

On Wednesday, May 14, 2003, McCoole Fire & Rescue Department in Allegany County, Maryland Engine/Rescue 23 responded to a call of a horse that had fallen partway through the walkway of the former Western Maryland Railway bridge over the CSX Railroad mainline from Cumberland.

The rear legs of the horse had broken through several boards that made up the walkway.

Personnel from Station 23 and civilians with the use of a volunteered Engine Hoist brought to the scene worked to free the trapped animal.
