On April 25, 2005, at 5:13 pm, Station 26-1 dispatched to Hyper Tech Performance Breaks for a fire in a coating tank in the building.

Chief Johnson (26-101) and Engine 26-15 arriving at 5:15 pm confirmed a working fire with heavy smoke showing, and fire on the "Delta" side of the building.

Completing the box brought in Station 28-1, Fast Team 13-1, Cascade 39-18, and Station 29-1 for manpower.

A 700', 4" supply line was laid into the job while 4, 1-3/4 attack lines went in to service. Interior crews made an aggressive and successful attack knocking down the bulk of the fire.

Firefighters on the roof quickly removed sections of the metal roof, while interior crews continued to extinguish the remaining fire in the building. Crews remained in service for extensive overhaul putting out hot spots.

Remaining units cleared the scene at 6:54 pm.

The fire was started when a break pad from a pallet being moved fell off striking, a piece of metal causing a spark which ignited fumes from isosorbide rubbing alcohol.

No injuries reported.
