Firefighters were called to a report of a barn fire at 21150 SW 65th Avenue in Tualatin at 7:40 p.m.

A large plume of black smoke from the fire was visible to travelers on both I-5 and I-205. Crews found the barn fully involved in flames and the incident commander called for a defensive attack focused on ensuring that the fire didn't spread to adjacent structures.

The presence of several vehicles and a boat in the barn increased the intensity of the fire. Firefighters took approximately 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

Water supply was a challenge as the area contains no fire hydrants. A second alarm was called to bring more crews with additional water tenders (tankers) to the scene to shuttle water from hydrants close to Meridian Park Hospital.

One male resident of the home adjacent to the fire suffered minor burns when he attempted to remove something from the barn. He was not transported for medical care.

Firefighters were successful in preventing the fire from spreading to other structures on the property. The barn and its contents were completely destroyed.

Given the intensity of the blaze and the presence of the burned-out vehicles, investigators expect it will take several days to complete their review.

The is no cause or estimate of damage information at this time.
