Fire crews battled a fire in what was first thought to be a vacant home in Rochester on Friday night.
Quint 6 arrived to report smoke from the first floor of the large 2 ½-story home that was boarded. The windows on the structure had been covered up after a crime the previous week.
The fire started on the first floor and spread to the second floor.
Firefighters used saws to cut away the plywood window covering to allow for ventilation and egress from the structure. An extra company was called to the scene to assist crews.
The fire was under control in about 15 minutes and no injuries were reported.
