Flames Hit Rochester, N.Y. House

Rochester firefighters battled a Kosciusko Street house fire late Saturday. The fire was called in by a police officer who was on patrol.

Firefighters were dispatched to 85 Koskisco Street about 11:30 p.m. Companies dispatched were Quint 6/Midi 6, Engine 16, Engine 17, Rescue 11, Battalion 1, the deputy chief and the safety officer.

Battalion 1 reported fire and smoke showing from a two-story house with an exposure fire on the D side of the building. Quint 7/Midi 7 were dispatched, and Engine 10 responded as the RIT.

Engine 16's crew stretched an attack line through the front door. They battled the fire from the inside, and were eventually evacuated from the house. Heavy winds created challenging conditions.

The home was vacant.
