N.Y. Firefighters Make Quick Work of Pickup Truck Fire

On March 17 at 4:01 a.m. the Norwich Fire Department was dispatched to a reported truck on fire inside a garage on County Rt. 31 in the town of Norwich.
Upon arrival Asst. Chief Pat Ford found that the owner had pulled the fully involved vehicle from the garage. Minutes later Norwich firefighters arrived with Engine 234 and their tanker 236 and were able to extinguish the fire in just a few minutes.

The owner stated that he had been working on the truck all winter and that this was the first time it had run in several weeks. He also confirmed that the fire started in the engine compartment. The truck was a total loss but fortunately the garage was not damaged and no injuries were reported. Chenango County Rt. 31 was shut down for approximately 30 minutes during the incident.
