N.Y. Firefighters Hit House Fire

At 4:01 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, Columbia County 911 took a call from a homeowner at 142 Route 23B in the Town of Greenport, N.Y. She reported that her couch was on fire in the living room. The crew of Greenport Engine 25-1 found heavy fire venting from windows on the first floor of a one-and-a-half story wood frame dwelling. Crews stretched an 1 3/4 attack line through the front door and were able to knock the flames.

She reported that her couch was on fire in the living room.

The crew of Greenport Engine 25-1 found heavy fire venting from windows on the first floor of a one-and-a-half story wood frame dwelling.

Crews stretched an 1 3/4 attack line through the front door and were able to knock the flames.

On scene for Greenport were two Engines (25-1 and 24-1), an Engine/tanker (26-1), a rapid attack vehicle (26-3) and a heavy rescue. 

The first floor sustained heavy fire and heat damage.

No injuries were reported.
