At 4:01 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, Columbia County 911 took a call from a homeowner at 142 Route 23B in the Town of Greenport, N.Y.
She reported that her couch was on fire in the living room.
The crew of Greenport Engine 25-1 found heavy fire venting from windows on the first floor of a one-and-a-half story wood frame dwelling.
Crews stretched an 1 3/4 attack line through the front door and were able to knock the flames.
On scene for Greenport were two Engines (25-1 and 24-1), an Engine/tanker (26-1), a rapid attack vehicle (26-3) and a heavy rescue.
The first floor sustained heavy fire and heat damage.
No injuries were reported.
