Worker Rescued From Trench in N.C.

  Firefirefighters from Nashville, N.C. Fire Department, Momeyer Volunteer Fire and Rescue and Nash County Emergency Medical Services responded to the intersection of Washington and Boddie streets at 12:50 p.m. for a rescue.They found that a construction worker was burying conduit along the intersection when the roadway curb caved in on him.He was trapped in the trench by a piece of concrete.The worker was trapped by the legs.

They found that a construction worker was burying conduit along the intersection when the roadway curb caved in on him.

He was trapped in the trench by a piece of concrete.

The worker was trapped by the legs.

Crews worked quickly to remove the concrete  by using their air bags system.

He was freed in about 25 minutes and was transported by EMS to Nash General Hospital for observation.

Capt. Jason Edwards said the department  participates in yearly training to prepare for such an event.
