Arson Charges Filed in Fire

  On Thursday, Jan. 6, at 5:45 a.m., a building fire was reported in Washington Township at 28 Windsor Court.Police found heavy fire showing from an apartment building. They advised people may be trapped.Command requested a second-alarm. One resident was seen jumping from a second-floor window. Companies went in to operation with multiple hand lines before being driven out of the building with heavy fire conditions. It was confirmed all occupants were out of the building.

On Thursday, Jan. 6, at 5:45 a.m., a building fire was reported in Washington Township at 28 Windsor Court.

Police found heavy fire showing from an apartment building. They advised people may be trapped.

Command requested a second-alarm.

One resident was seen jumping from a second-floor window.

Companies went in to operation with multiple hand lines before being driven out of the building with heavy fire conditions. It was confirmed all occupants were out of the building.

Crews set up for defensive operations using ladder pipes, two deck guns and multiple two-and-a-half inch handlines.

Crews remained on location throughout the morning as the fire was brought under control. There were no injuries to firefighters.

A resident from the apartment building was taken into custody and charged with arson.

The Gloucester County Fire Marshals and Washington Township Police Department still have the fire under investigation.

The fire damaged all eight units in the building.
