Dog Survives N.Y. House Fire

  On Friday, Dec. 17, at around 6:45 p.m., a motorist reported to Genesee County Dispatch Center a possible barn fire at 3971 Broadway Road in the Town of Alexander. Alexander Fire Department along with one ladder truck and tanker from The Town of Batavia were dispatched.Crews found possible smoke showing. After further investigation, it was determined to be the house that was burning and a second alarm was requested.

On Friday, Dec. 17, at around 6:45 p.m., a motorist reported to Genesee County Dispatch Center a possible barn fire at 3971 Broadway Road in the Town of Alexander.

Alexander Fire Department along with one ladder truck and tanker from The Town of Batavia were dispatched.

Crews found possible smoke showing. After further investigation, it was determined to be the house that was burning and a second alarm was requested.

Departments responding to the scene or for standby were Alexander, Town of Batavia, Bethany, Darien, East Pembroke, Pavilion, Attica, Stafford, City of Batavia, Attica Correctional, Oakfield, Alden, York, Genesee County Emergency Management, Genesee County Sheriff and New York State Police.

No injuries were reported.

After approximately an hour and 40 minutes into the fire, as crews were removing a boarded up window to get better access to a room, a dog came to the window. He was removed from the building.

It was taken to an ambulance where it was dried off and checked over.

It was reunited with family members, and appeared to be fine.
