In what authorities are calling one of the worse accidents ever on Long Island, an oil tanker explosion killed 4 people on the eastbound Sunrise Highway in Babylon, New York.

In what authorities are calling one of the worse accidents ever on Long Island, an oil tanker explosion killed 4 people on the eastbound Sunrise Highway in Babylon, New York.

The incident which occured on June 10, created a nightmare for numerous people travelling on the expressway.

The cause is still being investigated, but it appears that the oil tanker lost control of his rig, then plowed into a dump truck and several other cars.

A total of up to 12 cars were involved in this pileup disaster.

The North Babylon Fire Department worked at the scene, along with numerous Mutual Aid from area departments.

Suffolk County Police investigated the crash.

Four people were killed, several others suffered non-life threatening injuries.
