A two-alarm fire erupted on the campus of Buchser Middle School located at 1111 Bellomy Street in Santa Clara, California on June 14, 2005.
The fire was reported at approximately 4:30 pm and broke out in a building used by Santa Clara County to teach autistic and emotionally disturbed children.
The first units on scene reported visible fire and smoke from one of the school buildings prompting a call for second alarm units to respond to the scene.
A partial list of responding Santa Clara fire units includes Engines 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7, joined by Trucks 2 and 10, and Rescue 2 with Medic 1.
Firefighters did a masterful job in attacking the fire and limiting damage.
For many area residents and firefighters, this was not the first time seeing this particular school suffer significantfire damage.
A 2004 seven-alarm fire gutted 10 classrooms and required almost seven hours to control. There are no indications that the fire was intentionally set.
