At 9:59 am, Monday, April 21, 2003, Keene Volunteer Fire Department received a call of a major accident on Hwy 67 and County Road801B, on the west edge of town. A pick-up truck ran a stop sign from the side road and was broadsided by an empty flatbed semi-truck.
The Keene ambulance and engine company responded and was assisted by two Cleburne Fire Department engines and an AMR Ambulance.
The passenger door of the pick-up was pushed to the center of the pick-up. The Cleburne FD used their power equipment to cut the roof off in order to extract the driver who was CareFlighted in critical condition. The semi driver was not injured.
