Cooking Fire Thought to be Out by Owner, Turns into Structure Fire in Pennsylvania

On Sunday June 5th, at approximately 6:56 pm, firefighters were summoned to 65 Fern Drive in Oxford Township, Pennsylvania for a House Fire with a firefighter on scene advising smoke showing.

On Sunday June 5th, at approximately 6:56 pm, firefighters were summoned to 65 Fern Drive in Oxford Township, Pennsylvania for a House Fire with a firefighter on scene advising smoke showing.

Engine 13-1 arrived on scene approximately 5 minutes from dispatch, with a crew of 6 firefighters under the direction of Captain Donnie Black. Captain Black advised Adams 911 that he had a working fire with smoke showing from side Alpha and advised Chief Rabine enroute that they definitely had an extensive job on hand.

Chief Rabine arrived on scene shortly after Engine 13-1 and established command and assigned Deputy Chief Steve Shrader to Operations Chief and Lieutenant Dustin Poist to side Charlie sector officer.

Engine 13-1's interior crew found extensive heat and major fire in the kitchen and attic area's.

Engine 13-2 and Quint 29 ventilated horizontally and vertically by cutting 2 vent holes in roof and removing 2 attic vents on sides Bravo and Delta.

Additional units were called for extra personnel due to the outside temperature being approximately 85 degrees, and also for additional water.

While units were operating at the scene, Biglerville Fire Department Engine 6-2 was transferred to Company 13 to handle all additional calls.
