Wisconsin FFs Extinguish Chipper Blaze

  On Thursday, Nov. 11, at approximately 9:30 a.m. South Shore were dispatched to a report of a machine fire at Mobile Reduction Specialist in the Village of Sturtevant. As fire crews responded, a large black flume could be seen showing from the area of the call. Firefighters found upon arrival a large semi-trailer type wood chipper fully involved in fire with extension into a large wood chip pile.

On Thursday, Nov. 11, at approximately 9:30 a.m. South Shore were dispatched to a report of a machine fire at Mobile Reduction Specialist in the Village of Sturtevant.

As fire crews responded, a large black flume could be seen showing from the area of the call.

Firefighters found upon arrival a large semi-trailer type wood chipper fully involved in fire with extension into a large wood chip pile.

The crew of Engine 121 laid a five-inch supply line to Engine 123. Firefighters then hit the fire with their deck gun darkening the bulk of the fire.

Firefighters then advanced two 1-3/4” lines to extinguish the fire which was placed under control within a half hour.

Fire crews remained on scene for about two addition hours performing overhaul operation.
