Crews were dispatched to Green Brook Cycle & Marine at 367 Route 22 East around 5:30 p.m. Initial calls reported heavy smoke showing from the structure.

There were heavy fire conditions inside with heavy smoke pushing throughout the entire structure. Firefighters were unable to make the interior attack due to conditions and set up a defensive attack from the start.

Several exterior handlines and portable ground monitors were set up surrounding the structure. In addition, elevated master streams were set up by Green Brook, Dunellen and Middlesex ladder trucks.

Engines from Middlesex and Dunellen and tankers from Warren Township and Washington Valley were brought to scene to provide an additional water supply. There was an approximate 2,000 foot relay pumping operation established along Route 22.

The fire was brought under control about 8:30 p.m. and the business was completely destroyed.

Somerset County Hazardous Materials Team was summoned to the scene due to flammable and combustible liquids present in the water runoff.
