At 14:05 hrs. Great Hill Hose Company was dispatched to 5 Forest Rd. Seymour, CT for a reported car fire. On arrival we found a pickup truck with smoke coming from the engine compartment and the owner using a garden hose on it.

As the smoke lifted a little we realized that there was a squirrel's nest built near the fire wall and that there were 2 baby squirrels still in the nest. One baby was DOA, the other was rescued by firefighter John Zwolinski Jr. and cared for by firefighter Ryan Abrams.

The baby squirrel was brought back to the station until arrangements could be made for its care at an area nature center.

When my daughters heard why I stopped at home for my digital camera they wanted to come to the firehouse to see the baby.
