An eight inch gas line was cut causing a fire ball that reached at times 40 to 50 feet in the air, and sparked a small brush fire.

An eight inch gas line was cut causing a fire ball that reached at times 40 to 50 feet in the air, and sparked a small brush fire.

The call was received at about 1:45 pm on April 3rd 2003, in a semi rural area of Chesterfield.

It took about 6 engines and 2 brush trucks along with the forestry division about eight hours to bring the incident under control.

Two construction vehicles were completely consumed in the incident, but there were no reports of injury.
