Baltimore County 911 received phone calls on Saturday May 7, 2005 shortly after noon, reporting an apartment fire in the Woodlawn area of the county.
First responding career and volunteer units reported fire and smoke showing from a 3-story garden apartment building with several residents in distress.
Command requested a second alarm as the fire intensified and was showing through the roof.
Eventually a third alarm was sounded, bringing mutual aid from Howard County and Baltimore City to the scene.
