Burton, S.C. -- A fire contained inside a burn barrel at the Chavis Moving and Storage quickly spread to nearby combustibles and endangered building.
The Burton Fire District was notified of a possible building fire at 265 Bay Pines Road at the Chavis Moving and Storage building.
Firefighters located a fire that had originated in a burn barrel, and was now out of control. It involved numerous combustibles including the trailer portion of a tractor-trailer, and was spreading to within feet of the building.
Firefighters deployed their initial hose line for exposure protection to shield the building until additional personnel established master streams.
Fire crews were on scene for an hour-and-a-half conducting overhaul and completing extinguishment.
While this was primarily an outdoor fire, complete medical monitoring and rehab was provided by Beaufort County EMS crews per operating guidelines set forth by Beaufort County Fire Chief’s Association and Beaufort County EMS.
