Crews found a working fire in an abandoned two-and-a-half-story residence. The entire front of the structure was heavily involved.

The power line to the house had been burned through and was burning and sparking wildly, restricting access to the front of the house.

The crew of Valatie Engine 55-2 made forcible entry into a basement garage door on the side of the house allowing the crew of Engine 45-3 to make entry and attempt an interior attack.

Within a few minutes, the Niverville crew was evacuated and the all out was sounded. Soon after that, the rest of the structure flashed over.

Initially operations were hampered by a lack of water. Once Engine 45-1 began drafting and feeding a five inch line to Engines 55-2 and 45-3, a defensive attack was mounted with two deck guns and numerous hand lines.

Nassau, North Chatham, Stuyvesant and Tri-Village also were called by Niverville Command.
