The Eagle, Idaho Fire Department conducted a live-fire training drill on Saturday, March 29, 2003. A fixture in town for many years, the Eagle Nursery Office was burned down to make room for new businesses that will soon be coming in. The building provided for 8 separate room-and-contents fires, which were extinguished using attack and backup teams, with a RIT team standing by. A water-shuttle operation was set up using a portable tank due to no hydrants in the area. The Eagle Fire Protection District consists of 15 career fire personnel and approximately 40 volunteers protecting 57 square miles northwest of Boise. The department is based out of 2 stations and runs about 1,000 calls per year. More information is available on the web site at www.eaglefire.org
